Hi, I’m Natassia 🙂 Nice to meet you!
I am an HR Professional specialized in Talent Acquisition and L&D. I made the transition to Human Resources after a lengthy career in Academia. When I completed my Ph.D. in 2020, in the very beginning of the pandemic, I realized Academia was not fulfilling me any longer, and I needed a change. A few months (and several research hours) later, I dove deep into HR, my newly found passion.
I chose HR because it allowed me to intertwine my main professional interests: working with people, helping others, and training & development. As an educator and trained researcher, I took charge of my newly found career and started to take courses and certificates in Human Resources and in Talent Management and Acquisition, which led me to my Career Coach courses… and to the start of my own business!
I have loved the business world and have assisted a great number of friends and acquaintances better their resume, and prep for interviews. As an interviewer myself, I know that questions and answers that will make any candidate shine. It gives me great pleasure to chat with people about their career goals and brainstorm the best paths for them to achieve those. And as someone who transitioned out of Academia, I have a lot to offer to others in terms of advice in that area — especially after all the training I have taken, which allows me to align my instincts and proven methods.
I never stop learning. I am right now finishing an e-Cornell certificate course, I have other as well, including one from UCSD. I also have Career Coach certificates, and tons of real-life experience in these areas. I taught Languages and Brazilian culture (in and out of Academia) for about 15 years before I transitioned to HR. I have a Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages & Literatures (UCLA), a Masters in Portuguese, another Masters in Translation, and a Bachelor’s degree in English, as well as a teaching degree. I have been married since 2015 and we have a 5 year-old daughter (in the photo above she was 3!). We currently reside in Illinois.
